Solar Screen Installation

Custom-fit solar screens that block heat and UV while maintaining your view.

Starting from

$35/screen

El Paso's position at 3,800 feet elevation with 297 annual sunny days creates solar heat gain conditions that few cities match. A south or west-facing window with a standard screen provides essentially no heat protection, the glass transmits solar radiation almost unimpeded. A properly selected solar screen on that same window can block 70–90% of that heat before it enters the house. Our installation process starts with an in-home measurement. We measure every window you want screened, assess the orientation and current screen situation, and recommend density based on your cooling priorities. We fabricate the screens from your measurements, no adjustments, no cutting to fit. Proper fit means proper performance and appearance. Installation is included in the price. We hang every screen we make, verify the fit, and walk you through any operational differences from standard screens.

Frequently Asked Questions

What screen density should I choose for El Paso?

80% density blocks 80% of sunlight and heat while maintaining good outward visibility. 90% is recommended for south and west-facing windows where heat gain is highest, the slight reduction in visibility is worth the extra heat protection in our climate. 95% is used where maximum heat block matters more than visibility, like garage windows or utility rooms.

Do solar screens affect how much light comes inside?

Yes. 80% density allows roughly 20% of light through, rooms will be noticeably dimmer. 90% density allows about 10% through, and 95% allows very little. Most homeowners use 80% on windows they value for natural light and 90% on heavily sun-exposed windows. We'll discuss your priorities during the measure.

Can I still see out through solar screens?

Yes, from inside looking out, visibility is good with 80% and adequate with 90% density. From outside looking in, solar screens provide significant privacy during daylight hours, you can't easily see through them from outside when it's brighter outdoors than indoors.

How long do solar screens last in El Paso?

Quality solar screen material in our UV environment typically lasts 8–12 years before the material begins to degrade and lose its heat-blocking effectiveness. The aluminum frames last indefinitely. When the material reaches end of life, we can re-screen the original frames at lower cost than full replacement.
